This event was held on the weekend of April 19 and 20 2008 at the Citigate Central in Sydney, NSW. A variety of wildlife and avian experts from around Australia provided something for all clinicians, from those who work a great deal with wildlife and are comfortable and competent with sick birds, reptiles and marsupials to general practitioners wanting to learn more and venture into wildlife or avian work. Experts ranged from experienced private practitioners, zoo vets and pathobiologists to avian specialists and wildlife pathologists. The proceedings of this dynamic and interesting program are brought together in this 273 page book.

The ICU in Sydney conference was held in Sydney at the Australian Technology Park on February 4 to 8 2008. The Proceedings from this conference cover a wide range of intensive care categories, from holistic approaches to small animal emergency and patients with critical care needs; endocrine and respiratory emergencies in cats and dogs to nursing of emergency and critical care situations and the anaesthesia of critically ill animals. Other topics covered are cardiac emergencies, management of both feline and gastrointestinal emergencies and urogenital emergencies in dogs and cats (uroabdomen, pyometra, prostatis and peritonitis; new approaches in the management of acute renal failure and case studies). There are also chapters on toxicology updates, critical patient imaging, dealing with complications during critical care and cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation.

Rowan Blogg’s enormous contribution to Veterinary Science, particularly in ophthalmology, cover 361 pages of notes, information and diagrams. The conference ran for five days in Melbourne in November 2007, and focussed on eyes, ears, noses and throats. “It Makes Sense” provides an enlightening insight into many cases such as orbital disorders, vision loss, cornea diseases, uveitis and glaucoma; pinnae and ear canal diseases, diagnostic and surgical approaches to ear health; nasal, throat and oral cavity illnesses and lots more.
